About Us
Why are we here?
Ryan and Lauren Poynter had a vision to help those in need. When thinking through where they can have the most impact, they discovered one group that needs more support than they're currently being given: Single Parents. This is why they started The Poynter Scholarship. The Poynter Scholarship is an Annual Scholarship given to single parents attending Eastern Washington University and pursuing their college degrees.
Our history
The Poynter Foundation was established in 2021 with the sole purpose to raise money for The Poynter Scholarship. Our goal is to give back to those who are underserved and need our support: single parents. While Ryan is the only one who grew up being surrounded by single parents, they both know how difficult it is to raise children on your own. Your family's needs come first and your needs usually become second. We want to help make peoples dreams a reality by helping them financially while they pursue their dream of higher education.
Our mission
We believe that the under-served community of single parents deserve assistance to go to school and we were founded to help them get there.
